Healing the Hurts

I have had something of an epiphany. It happened this week as I was sitting at the piano. I came across this song that I had sang years ago. I remembered something I had done at that time, with the thought that I was helping someone. Now as I sat there that day at the piano, I realized that what I did only brought fresh hurt where maybe a heart was healing. I knew in my heart rigt away that I owed this precious woman a heartfelt apology, but struggled because quiet a bit of time had passed since the incident. Everyday as I went about daily tasks, I heard it with every beat of my heart, every step..."send an apology, its not too late, she needs to hear this"

So, finally today, I sat down and wrote her a message ( I don't have her number or I would have called her)....I told her I was sorry, I told her I was young and immature at the time and really believed in my heart that I was helping her. I felt relief as I wrote it, and I know that as she read it, she experienced healing of a past hurt. You see it is never too late to do the right thing. When we feel that inkling, I recognize it as God prompting me, you may have a different name for it....a higher power, intuition, etc...we need to immediately take action. We will experience personal growth and relationships can be restored.

Why is it so hard to ask a person to forgive us? Our words carry great power, the power to hurt and the power to heal a hurt. Oftentimes, it is hard to admit we have made a mistake. Pride seems to wedge itself in there somehow. We don't want people to know that we have stumbled, that we have the ability with a sharp tongue to wound the people we care about most. Just think about how many arguments could be prevented, how many relationships (friend or otherwise) could be maintained, and dare I say, how many marriages that would last with those simple words, "Please forgive me, I was wrong.

Why is it easier to ask forgiveness from those that live outside our house and not those that live in the four walls we share? They are sometimes the very ones that need to hear your words the most. You can make friends where-ever you go, but you only get one family. They are a precious gift. Once they are gone, you can't simply go out and find another family....no one can take their place. They are all unique with their little quirks and crazies....but I will tell you, I wouldn't want to trade my family members for anyone else. We need our family....they are the ones that care, they are the ones that when you are telling a story about growing up, they "get it"...you will not find that just anywhere.

Today I challenge my readers to think about their relationships. What ones need to be restored, are there places you need to ask forgiveness, is there a way you can bring healing to a life today? Don't hesitate, you never know when today could be your last chance.

A Milestone Birthday and 2 Movie Reviews

So yesterday my daughter turned 18!  How wild is that? She looked at me that morning and said, "Yes you are old enough to have a child this age!" I know, she is a laugh a minute...but she does know how to make my heart happy. When asked where she wanted to eat for her birthday, she told me that she would rather  have my homemade chicken and dressing with creamed potatoes on the side instead of go to a restaurant....that earned her some points!

Here she is reading the card from her younger brother and little sister

We have also watched the "Hunger  Games." My daughter and I both read the whole trilogy in 3 days....it was awesome! We had heard mixed feelings about the actual movie though. We all know that most of the time the movie just is not as good as the book. But all in all I thought the movie was great! It kept my attention even though I already knew what was going to happen and left me wanting to see "the rest of the story"

Now of course they didn't include as much detail as the book, if they did the movie would have been too long...but they gave you enough that if you had read the books, you knew what was happening.  Even my husband, who did not read the books by the way, was still very much interested and now wants to know what happens in the following books.

This is a movie my whole family enjoyed, and if you haven't seen it, you need to....from my youngest (Savannah, age 5)  to my oldest (Frank, age 53), we all loved every minute of it!

Another great movie that is family friendly is "Big Miracle" This story about the whale family, trapped in the ice in Alaska, is one the most moving and touching stories I have seen in a long time. Again my entire family watched it, and all loved it!

I have to admit there was not a dry eye in our living room during some of the parts of the movie.....

So if you are looking for some good, family movies this weekend, I recommend these two, Check them out and let me know what you think.......

Decision Time

Have you ever been faced with a time in your life that you thought you knew what to do, but had the gnawing feeling inside that you needed to go in a different direction? This happened to me recently. I had everything planned out, knew what I was doing and looking forward to an event. I felt I had prayed, sought God, felt confident....but then....

About 5 weeks prior to this, I started feeling like maybe my timing was off, that this particular thing needed to be done at a different time, not now. I knew in my heart that God was trying to tell me something....but me being made of flesh, I didn't want to listen, I wanted what I wanted....

Things began to take shape in my life and in my familys' life that showed me I needed to delay my plans....still I just couldn't bring myself to do it. Finally with just days to go, I was setting at my dining table, making my plans.....like we all do, and I heard very clearly what God was saying. Then He reminded me, that we don't make decisions based on our emotions or feelings, but only on what He says to do.

I cancelled my event, and immediately felt a HUGE relief.....

I don't know why the change, but God does....and whatever He has for me this weekend to do, is what I will do....and I know that I will have peace in my heart.

MOVIE REVIEW......"Bachelorette"

So last night we were flipping through channels and couldn't decide on anything to watch. I said that I had seen this really funny movie advertise and that it was "On Demand." We agreed this did look funny and we would watch it.

The "Bachelorette" looks funny enough....three friends invited to the wedding of a school friend that they all used to make fun of. These three "friends" are supposed to be bridesmaids at the upcoming wedding. Great story, but filled with horrible language. Also, filled with brief nudity....so why is it required for a movie to be a "great movie" that it has to have the language/nudity factor?

If you are looking for a family film....this is not it! (Before you judge us for watching it, all minors were in bed.).....Also, the bride is somewhat overweight and the "friends" take great delight in making fun of her and her wedding gown bc of the size of it....way to go Hollywood for making all us that are not a size two feel great about ourselves! Even if you get past all of this, there are still scenes where people are just hooking up, just because it seems like the things to do at the time. Some of the scenes left nothing to the imagination....ok what was that supposed to do for the audience?? We do not need the graphics! if we are all the appropriate age to be watching this movie rating, then chances are we already know what the "act" looks like and what goes on.....

Once we got into the movie, you realize the story-line is not great, the acting is fair.....

I give the "Bachelorette" two thumbs down....

Halloween Bling

I had a few people asking about bling art for Halloween...well here ya go. These are few of what I can create. Again let me know if you have something specific in mind and I can usually come up with a design for you.

Getting Older

One week from today and my oldest daughter will turn will turn 18....so I am waxing a little nostalgic. I cant believe how fast it went. It feels like only yesterday we were taking her to her first day of kindergarten. The backpack looked huge on her. She was so little, had a front tooth missing, and had that Dorothy Hamill haircut. As soon as we took her to her room she was ready for us to go! Of course at that time we lived in Salina, Kansas.....all of the teachers thought it was so cute that she had a southern drawl. They would ask her at recess just to say their names.....She was a busy little girl back then.....that hasn't changed. She has always been a social butterfly, making friends easily it seems. She has always had a big heart, empathetic for others. She sang in church the first time when she was three.....then grew up to be the worship leader for the youth. I was never more proud of her. Something about watching your child lead others to worship at the feet of the Master is so moving. Dont get me wrong, she dont flutter around on angel wings all day! She has had her moments.....once in 5th grade, she decided to just stand up and holler out "Hey, Hey, Hey, its FAAAAAAT Albert" after seeing the movie over the weekend. I had to remind her that it was not her job to provide the comic relief for the class. But, she has always been funny....I like to think that she gets that from me. She has done a lot of things in 18 years.....cheerleader, pageant queen, softball, competitive swim, wrote a proposal for Congress, made the honor roll, so many things, so many memories. I remember thinking she was a angel when we brought her from the hospital.....then when she developed colic, thinking I birthed and alien baby....those were the days of no sleep at night and sleep-walking through the day. She has turned into an awesome person, so warm, so caring, a natural leader,  so in love with her King. She is entering in a new phase of life....college, driving, juggling a few more responsibilities now. Life is an adventure for her, always has been. I am glad I get to be along for the ride.......

Sports

I didnt want my sports friends  left out of the bling shirts and sweatshirts! I have lots of sports bling...football, basketball, and baseball....if there is  sport that your child participates in, let me know and I am sure I can come up with a design for you. If there is one of these that you like but it needs a different sport logo, just let me know and I can get that for you. Just think about how much fun it would be to go to your childs event in you bling shirt to show your support! and yes, I can personalize these....

Shirts $25 and sweatshirts $30....buyer pays S & H

leave me a message in the comment section below telling me which design you would like and  way to contact you
